81-Year-Old Mary Phister Seriously Hospitalized in Pedestrian Crash on Herndon Avenue at Del Rey Avenue

 
FRESNO, CA (January 6, 2023) Mary Phister remains in critical condition following Wednesday night’s pedestrian accident on Herndon Avenue at Del Rey Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian accident occurred around 5:20 p.m. As she was crossing the street to check her mail, Phister was struck by an oncoming Mazda driver. Authorities learned that the 81-year-old had dark clothing on at the time, making it difficult for the driver to see.
 
Soon after, paramedics reached the scene and airlifted her to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment of critical injuries.
 
Officers have ruled out alcohol and drugs as possible factors in the accident. However, the case remains under investigation. Anyone who has more knowledge of this crash can contact the CHP.
