Elderly Pedestrian Dies after Struck by SUV on Highway 178 in Inyokern

 
INYOKERN, CA (June 19, 2022) – An 80-year-old man died in a pedestrian accident on Highway 178 in Inyokern late Thursday on June 16.
 
The accident happened around 11:20 p.m. at Strecker Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, a woman driving a GMC Sierra hit the victim in the second lane of the eastbound highway.
 
As a result, the elderly man suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
At this time, the identity of the victim was not immediately available.
 
Officials said there is no evidence that drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
