Head-On Accident on Highway 58 in Bakersfield Ends in Fatality

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 20, 2022) – At least one person was killed in a head-on accident on Highway 58 in Bakersfield on Friday evening, June 17.
 
The accident happened a little after 8:15 p.m. just west of General Beale Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, at least two vehicles collided head-on for unknown reasons. The impact caused one of the vehicles to roll over.
 
Responding officers found two people trapped in their vehicles, one of them was unresponsive.
 
Despite life-saving efforts, at least one person died at the scene. The name, age and hometown of the victim were withheld pending notification of next of kin.
 
The crash stopped traffic in both directions.
 
At this time, the exact cause of the crash and factors involved remain under investigation.
