8 People Hurt in Explosion at Shaver Lake Eastwood Power Station Tunnel

 
SHAVER LAKE, CA (September 19, 2022) — Eight workers sustained minor injuries in an explosion at the Eastwood Power Station Tunnel in Shaver Lake.
 
According to Cal Fire Battalion Chief Brandon Markle, the explosion happened around 10:45 a.m. on Thursday. Upon responding, Cal Fire crews arrived at the SoCal Edison power facility about a commercial fire and explosion.
 
Thus far, Cal Fire authorities believe a circuit breaker blew in-ground which caused the explosion. Crews had to evacuate at the time, and eight workers received treatment for minor injuries, including being exposed to sulfur hexafluoride.
 
At this time, investigators have not fully confirmed what led to the incident. However, they did report that there was no threat to the public, and no one’s power had gone out. If anyone has information regarding this incident, please call the authorities.
