Driver Dies in Rollover, 2-Car Crash on River Road in Monterey County

 
MONTEREY COUNTY, CA (February 6, 2024) — A 79-year-old man died in a rollover accident on River Road near Las Palmas Parkway.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly two-car crash happened around 2:40 p.m. Saturday. For an unknown reason, a woman driving a southbound Audi on River Road crossed the double yellow lines. Subsequently, her vehicle struck a northbound Ford truck, causing it to overturn on its roof.
 
Moments later, paramedics arrived and transported a female Ford passenger to a hospital for treatment. However, the Ford driver passed away from his injuries and was identified as a 79-year-old Pacific Grove man.
 
At the time of the report, CHP investigators did not confirm if impairment factored into the cause of the roll over accident. However, an investigation should clarify any ambiguous details.
