78-Year-Old Helen Byers Dies in 2-Car Crash at Highway 132 and Gates Road

 
MODESTO, CA (June 17, 2022) — Helen Byers died in a two-car accident at Highway 132 and Gates Road.
 
According to reports, the fatal two-vehicle accident happened Tuesday evening. For unknown reasons, 78-year-old Byers proceeded into the intersection at Highway 132 and Gates Road after making a stop when a westbound car struck her vehicle. As a result of the impact, her car traveled southwest, leaving the roadway and crashing into a canal.
 
Subsequently, a passerby pulled her out of the vehicle and emergency personnel began performing CPR at the scene. After paramedics brought her to a hospital, medical staff pronounced her dead shortly after arriving. Meanwhile, the 25-year-old Modesto resident driving the other car suffered minor injuries.
 
At this time, the liabilities and circumstances of this crash need more investigating. However, police determined that the other driver did not have a stop sign traveling westbound on Highway 132. If anyone has more information on this crash, please call the California Highway Patrol.
