73-Year-Old Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Big Rig on Highway 65 in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 11, 2023) — A 73-year-old pedestrian was hit and killed by a semi-truck on Highway 65 near Imperial Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal pedestrian accident happened around 1:30 a.m. Saturday. For unknown reasons, a Peterbilt truck struck a 73-year-old man who walked into the southbound lanes. The pedestrian reportedly wandered into the path of the truck prior to the impact.
 
The unidentified pedestrian died in the accident, and officials have yet to release his name.
 
Authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident, but if anyone has more information, please call the CHP at 661-396-6600.
