72-Year-Old Daljit Singh Dies, Chad Foxworthy Survives Truck Crash on Riego Road near Pacific Avenue

 
SUTTER COUNTY (October 5, 2023) — Daljit Singh died in a big rig accident on Riego Road near Pacific Avenue.
 
According to the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal truck accident happened around 6:58 p.m. Tuesday. Under unclear circumstances, a westbound Nissan SUV struck the tracks of an excavator, which was on the trailer of an eastbound Peterbilt big rig.
 
Upon impact, the Nissan, moving at an unknown speed, left the road and traveled into a ditch. Soon after, the driver of the Peterbilt, 31-year-old Chad Foxworthy of Rio Oso, pulled over and stopped.
 
Paramedics responded soon after to provide medical care to the 72-year-old Nissan driver, Daljit Singh. However, the Sacramento man succumbed to his injuries.
 
According to an investigation, the Peterbilt had a pilot car with flashing yellow lights traveling ahead of it to signal to drivers about its wide load. In addition, Renn Transportation Inc, which owns the Peterbilt, has permits for its trucks to travel on West Riego Road.
 
However, it is still unclear what drove the collision. At this point, alcohol and drugs do not factor into this crash, but if anyone has more information, please call the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office.
