Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Car on 5 Freeway in Natomas

 
NATOMAS, CA (May 6, 2024) – 56-year-old man was killed in a pedestrian accident on 5 Freeway in Natomas early Saturday morning on May 4.
 
The fatal accident happened just after 3:30 a.m. near Arena Boulevard. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man tried to walk from the northbound shoulder to the other side of the freeway.
 
When the man reached the fast lane of the northbound side, a Hyundai driven by a 30-year-old man struck him.
 
The impact threw the pedestrian into the center median of the freeway. He suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office withheld the victim’s identity pending next-of-kin notification.
 
The involved motorist remained on scene and cooperated with officers. He was also treated at a hospital for minor injuries.
 
An investigation into this fatality is ongoing.
