Children Hurt in DUI Crash near Elkhorn Boulevard in Sacramento County

 
SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA (December 22, 2023) — A 5-year-old suffered critical wounds in a hit-and-run DUI accident near Elkhorn Boulevard and Sprig Drive.
 
According to Sacramento Metro Fire, the hit-and-run accident happened at 1:21 a.m. Wednesday. Under unclear circumstances, an unknown vehicle sideswiped a sedan, causing the vehicle to crash into a tree.
 
Subsequently, the driver of the other car left the scene of the accident. Soon after, California Highway Patrol officers and paramedics arrived to find three children in the car and two adults. Two children suffered moderate injuries, but a 5-year-old girl suffered critical injuries and was taken to a hospital.
 
Following the crash, police determined that the male driver, described as the father of the children, was under the influence and arrested him.
