Semi Truck Collides with Car on Highway 86 in Oasis Killing Five People

 
OASIS, CA (January 16, 2023) – Five people died in a semi truck crash on Highway 86 in Oasis late Saturday afternoon on January 14.
 
The fatal crash happened around 5:20 p.m. at Avenue 81. According to Cal Fire, a Volkswagen Jetta was traveling eastbound on Avenue 81 near the highway. At the same time, the semi truck was heading southbound on the highway.
 
For unknown reasons, the Volkswagen entered the intersection without yielding to oncoming traffic. It then collided with the semi truck.
 
As a result, all five occupants in the Volkswagen succumbed to their injuries at the scene. They were three adults and two juveniles.
 
At this time, the identities of the victims were not immediately available.
 
The exact cause of the crash and factors involved remain under investigation.
