5 Hurt After Driver Crashes off 10 Freeway in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, CA (July 27, 2023) — Five people were injured after a car crashed into a homeless encampment off the 10 Freeway near Palms Boulevard.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the single-car crash happened around 2:20 a.m. Wednesday. For an unknown reason, a driver operating a Tesla traveling at an unknown speed crashed off the 10 Freeway. Subsequently, the Tesla plowed into a homeless encampment after veering off the westbound lanes.

Minutes later, paramedics arrived and found five victims, including three that needed extrication from the vehicle. Emergency Personnel transported the three patients to a hospital in serious condition. Two others sought hospital care but in fair condition.

At this time, traffic investigators have not identified the leading cause of the crash. However, an ongoing investigation should determine the details.

Take note of your speed when driving. Traveling at a high rate of speed results in you possibly losing control of your vehicle. When you obey the speed limit, you can take control of the wheel and navigate roads with ease. As always, be wary and alert of the road ahead.
