23-Year-Old Salinas Man Arrested after DUI Crash on Highway 101 near Reese Circle
PRUNEDALE, CA (July 15, 2021) – Five people sustained injuries in a DUI crash on Highway 101, Sunday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on July 11, at about 11:35 a.m. A northbound Volkswagen Jetta reportedly hit the rear of a southbound Chevrolet Tahoe near Reese Circle.
Four people inside the SUV sustained injuries. An air ambulance transported a 5-year-old child to a bay area hospital as a precaution. Meanwhile, three other victims were transported to Natividad Medical Center for evaluation.
As per reports, the driver of the Volkswagen, identified as a 23-year-old Salinas man, sustained major injuries. Responders also transported him to Natividad for treatment.
Authorities later placed the driver under arrest on suspicion of DUI.
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
