4 People Hospitalized in 2-Car Crash on Highway 145 in Madera

 
MADERA, CA (March 16, 2022) — Four people were injured in a car accident on Highway 145 near Cottonwood Creek on Tuesday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle accident happened around 10:30 a.m. For unknown reasons, a driver in a sedan heading northbound on the highway drifted off the road, struck a guardrail and ricocheted into the southbound lane.
 
Subsequently, the out-of-control sedan slammed into an oncoming van carrying six people, including a baby and a child.
 
Due to the impact, the sedan severed into two pieces, critically injuring its driver and its female passenger. Two of the six people inside the van suffered major injuries, as well, while two others complained of pain. Fortunately, the infant and child evaded injury.
 
At this time, investigators have not released information surrounding the cause of the accident. However, we will update this report once we receive additional insight.
