Driver, Residents Injured After Car Crashes into House at Tully Road in Modesto

MODESTO, CA (January 4, 2024) — Four people suffered injuries after a car crashed into a home at Tully Road and Orangeburg Avenue.

According to Modesto Police, the car crash happened around 12:20 p.m. Sunday. For possible speed-related reasons, a driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a fence, sheared a fire hydrant and hit a house.

Soon after, Modesto Fire Department officials arrived and found the male driver pinned inside the wreckage. Upon freeing him, they took him to an area hospital with moderate injuries. In addition, a woman and two children sustained minor injuries and had to be treated at a hospital, as well.

Although police do not believe alcohol or drugs played a part in the accident, they do believe excessive speed might have precipitated the crash. If anyone has information, please call Modesto officers.

Slowing down can make a difference in your safety. Driving at an excess speed, especially in neighborhoods, maximizes the chances of road accidents. You lose road space and time when you travel at a higher speed. Remember to take it slow.
