3 Hospitalized, Train Crashes Into Vehicle on Rancho Avenue in San Bernardino

SAN BERNARDINO, CA (February 9, 2023) — Three people were injured after a train struck a car on Rancho Avenue near 5th Street.

According to officers, the train accident happened Wednesday. For some reason, a driver of a red pickup failed to yield to the crossing guards and an eastbound Metrolink train. As a result, the train struck the pickup, which was crossing the tracks at an unsafe speed.

Soon after, firefighters responded and took the driver and a passenger to a local hospital in critical condition. One of the 30 passengers on board the train reported minor injuries in the crash.

Officials reported no other information about the accident. However, an ongoing investigation should confirm any unclear details.

Around train tracks, stop at least 15 feet from the nearest track. Trains are a lot wider than they appear. Never drive around crossing arms or try to beat them as they drop lower. This will risk your life and those of your passengers.
