Police Arrest DUI Driver after Crashing Car into Trees in Santa Margarita Injuring Himself and 2 Passengers

 
SANTA MARGARITA, CA (February 14, 2023) – Three people were injured and Luis H. Montesinos was arrested in a DUI crash Friday morning east of Santa Margarita.
 
The crash happened around 7:50 a.m. on February 10, along Highway 58 near Goldie Lane. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 19-year-old suspect from Santa Maria was driving a 2000 Toyota Camry westbound at a high rate of speed when he lost control in a curve of the road and hit two oak trees before going down an embankment.
 
Montesinos and one of his four passengers, 30-year-old Ismael Sodano, suffered major injuries. Another passenger, 29-year-old Antonio Solano, had minor injuries.
 
Two other passengers, 34-year-old Alberto Montesino and 32-year-old Manuel Tenorio, were uninjured.
 
Police later arrested Montesinos on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
 
Further investigation is underway.
