SAN DIEGO, CA (April 5, 2024) — Three people were injured after a car crashed into a military gate barrier at Naval Base San Diego on Norman Scott Road.

According to the naval base public information officer, the accident happened around 5:00 a.m. Wednesday. For an unknown reason, a driver and two others in the car struck a military gate barrier. Subsequently, medical personnel responded to the gate to find three people with injuries. Soon after, the injured were taken to a local hospital for an evaluation and one of the military members was released.

At the time of the accident, authorities did not know why the vehicle crashed into the barrier right after the security guard pushed the button to open it. There was no evidence of any threat to the public, however.
