1 Airlifted after Head-On Accident on Highway 74 in Mountain Center

 
MOUNTAIN CENTER, CA (April 13, 2021) – Three people sustained injuries in a head-on accident on Highway 74, Saturday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 11:15 a.m. Due to unknown circumstances, two sedans collided on the westbound side of the two-lane corridor, in the area of the 74/243 interchange.
 
Engine crews from Riverside County Fire Department responded and rendered aid to three injured victims. A medical helicopter later arrived to transport one critically injured victim to the hospital. As per reports, the other victims sustained minor injuries.
 
Responders temporarily closed the westbound side of Highway 74 to make way for clearing operations and an investigation.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
