DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA (January 4, 2023) — Three individuals sustained injuries in a suspected DUI crash at Pierson Boulevard and Little Morongo Road.
 
The Friday afternoon incident occurred at about 5:20 p.m. according to the Desert Hot Springs police. It involved two vehicles.
 
Arriving officers discovered that a 73-year-old driver of a gray Hyundai Sonata was westbound on Pierson nearing the four-way, stop sign-controlled intersection of Little Morongo Road. Simultaneously, a blue Chevrolet Silverado HD, occupied by a 46-year-old driver and a 46-year-old passenger, was eastbound on Pierson, just east of Little Morongo Road. The Hyundai then entered eastbound traffic and collided head-on with the Chevrolet.
 
The impact left the Hyundai driver unconscious, necessitating immediate transportation to the hospital. Both occupants of the Chevrolet were also taken to a hospital, reporting complaints of pain.
 
Consequently, the authorities temporarily closed westbound and eastbound traffic on Pierson Boulevard between Atlantic Avenue and Little Morongo during the investigation. But normal traffic flow resumed around 9:30 p.m. Friday.
