2 Officers Hospitalized in Police Pursuit Crash at Riverside Drive in Toluca Lake

 
TOLUCA LAKE, CA (July 20, 2023) — Two officers suffered unknown injuries in a police chase accident at Riverside Drive near Ledge Avenue.
 
According to the Los Angeles police, the chase happened around 11:00 a.m. Wednesday. Upon spotting a car thief, two LAPD officers began following the suspect. However during the chase, the officers crashed into the suspect and suffered unknown injuries.
 
Soon after, paramedics arrived and transported the officers to a hospital shortly after.
 
The suspect, however, fled the scene. Another officer spotted the suspect in a white minivan traveling at a high speed on the 118 Freeway. Although the officer was able to deploy a spike strip to disable the van, the suspect pulled over and carjacked a white BMW sedan.
 
From there, the BMW became disabled, which led the suspect to steal another white minivan. Before reaching the 23 Freeway, three officers boxed in the suspect. From there, the suspect exited the car and surrendered.
 
Information surrounding the theft and injured officers was unavailable. However, we will update this report once we receive more information.
