BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 6, 2023) – Two people were killed in a fiery accident on Highway 99 in Bakersfield early Saturday morning on March 4.
 
The accident happened around 3:10 a.m. at Hosking Avenue. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, a Honda passenger car failed to stop at a dead-end and came to rest in the southbound lanes of the highway. It was then struck by a Dodge pickup truck.
 
The impact caused the Honda to burst into flames.
 
While the woman who was driving the Honda was able to get out of the burning, the other woman in the car and a 15-year-old girl died at the scene. Their identities have not yet been released.
 
Paramedics took the Honda driver and adults occupants of the Dodge to a hospital with major injuries.
 
The factors involved in the crash remain under investigation. Police asked anyone with further information to call them at 661-327-7111.
