2 Hurt in Fiery Motorcycle Crash on Voltaire Street in Ocean Beach

 
OCEAN BEACH, CA (May 24, 2024) — Two people suffered severe injuries in a fiery motorcycle accident on Voltaire Street near Bacon Street.
 
According to San Diego Police officers, the motorcycle crash happened around 4:36 p.m. Tuesday. For an unknown reason, a 42-year-old man operating a 2024 BMW motorcycle westbound rear-ended a 2016 Honda CRV. Upon impact, the motorcyclist’s 38-year-old female passenger was ejected from the bike and suffered an open pelvic fracture and a large cut to her scalp.
 
Subsequently, the motorcycle caught on fire and the 42-year-old man suffered life-threatening burn injuries. Soon after, paramedics responded and brought the two to a hospital for immediate care.
 
Following the accident, the 49-year-old Honda driver stayed on site and reported minor injuries in the collision. Authorities believe DUI might have factored into the cause. However, the San Diego police are looking further into this crash.
