2 Hit, 1 Killed in Pedestrian Accident on 580 Freeway near Isabel Avenue [Livermore, CA]

2 Passengers Exit Uber after Dispute with Driver, Struck on 580 Freeway in Livermore Killing One

 
LIVERMORE, CA (March 20, 2023) – One person was killed in a pedestrian accident on 580 Freeway in Livermore Sunday evening.
 
The fatal accident happened around 9:22 p.m. near the Isabel Avenue off-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, two passengers got out of an Uber vehicle after a possible dispute with the driver. After they exited the vehice, both were struck on the freeway.
 
As a result, one of the passengers died at the scene. The condition of the other was not immediately available.
 
Caltrans said the Uber driver first reported being assaulted by his passengers.
 
It is unclear whether these two passengers were hit by another car or the Uber vehicle itself.
 
The Alameda County Coroner withheld the victim’s identity at this time.
 
At this time, an investigation into this fatality is ongoing.
