Ramiro Benitez-Jimenez Arrested after Fleeing Police in Moreno Valley

MORENO VALLEY, CA (May 16, 2022) – Authorities arrested 23-year-old Ramiro Benitez-Jimenez after a police chase crash on Lasselle Street, early Tuesday morning.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened on May 10, shortly after midnight. Deputies reportedly spotted a white Nissan doing burn-outs or donuts in the intersection of Lasselle Street and Bay Avenue.

Then, the deputies turned on their siren to conduct an enforcement stop on the Nissan driver. However, the driver, later identified as Benitez-Jimenez, ignored the deputies and continued doing burn-outs in the intersection.

A short time later, Benitez-Jimenez fled the area at a high rate of speed. Then, he made a U-turn, turned off his headlights, and drove straight toward the patrol vehicle.

As per reports, the two deputies suffered minor injuries in the incident.

Meanwhile, the suspect continued fleeing as more patrol cars responded to the chase. Benitez-Jimenez later hit another patrol vehicle that entered the same intersection on a green light.

After the collision, Benitez-Jimenez fled the scene on foot but was later arrested.

Officers booked Benitez-Jimenez into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on suspicion of two counts of assault with a deadly weapon against a peace officer likely to result in great bodily injuries, reckless driving, and resisting or obstructing a peace officer.

When pulled over, slow down and patiently wait for further instructions.
