17-Year-Old Girl Dies in Rollover Crash on Highway 162

 
PLUMAS COUNTY, CA (September 29, 2021) — A 17-year-old girl died in a rollover accident on Highway 162 near Bucks Lake Monday night.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal solo-car accident happened around 7:50 p.m. For unknown reasons, a 17-year-old female lost control of her eastbound 2004 Honda on the highway.
 
Per investigators, the teen lost control as she slowed down for a left-hand curve. However, the Honda lost traction due to the wet road conditions at the time and drove off the embankment, struck a boulder and rolled over.
 
Soon after, paramedics and authorities arrived to find the vehicle on its roof, the driver with moderate injuries and her 20-year-old front-seat passenger with major injuries. With haste, paramedics brought both of them to Plumas District Hospital.
 
Tragically, a 17-year-old passenger in the back seat suffered fatal injuries. At this time, the victim’s name and the cause of the accident will require additional investigation. Therefore, anyone with more information on this fatal crash should contact CHP.
