Teen, Motorist Hurt in Onaga Trail School Bus Crash in Yucca Valley

 
YUCCA VALLEY, CA (August 24, 2023) — A 13-year-old and a driver reported injuries in a school bus accident at Onaga Trail and Valley Vista Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle crash happened around 1:00 p.m. Wednesday. For unknown reasons, a Yucca Valley man driving a southbound 2012 Nissan Murano failed to stop at a stop sign. Subsequently, the Nissan struck a Morongo Unified School District bus at the intersection of Onaga Trail and Valley Vista Avenue.
 
Upon impact, the bus drove onto a private property and plowed through a wooden fence before hitting a parked 2014 Chevrolet Cruze.
 
A 13-year-old student on board the bus and the Nissan driver suffered minor injuries. Authorities learned that 28 students from La Contenta Middle School were on their way home when the accident happened.
