Woman Dies in 2-Vehicle Crash on Kearny Villa Road in Miramar
MIRAMAR, CA (November 13, 2024) — A woman died in a 2-car accident on Kearny Villa Road at Highway 163 Monday evening.
San Diego Police officers arrived at the scene of the broadside crash around 6:00 p.m. Upon responding to the 6700 block of Kearny Villa Road, authorities learned that a Ford F-450 flatbed truck T-boned a Toyota Highlander SUV.
After investigating the details, authorities specified that the 66-year-old woman driving the Highlander briefly stopped at a red light. However, when the light turned green, she entered the intersection when a 49-year-old woman in the Ford ran a red traffic light and broadsided her Highlander. The impact sent the Ford into a nearby traffic light post, as well.
Subsequently, emergency personnel responded and transported the gravely injured 66-year-old woman to a hospital where she died. Officials haven’t released her name. The Ford driver suffered unknown injuries in the crash.
Information on what caused the accident is unknown, but authorities ruled out impairment.
