1 Dead in Hit-and-Run Bicycle Crash on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Sacramento

 
SACRAMENTO, CA (August 28, 2023) — One person died in a hit-and-run bicycle accident on Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard near 21st Avenue.
 
According to Sacramento Police officers, the hit-and-run happened around 1:53 a.m. Sunday. Under unclear circumstances, a driver of an unknown vehicle struck a bicyclist, believed to be a female.
 
Soon after, officers arrived at the scene and administered life-saving efforts to the victim for her significant injuries. However, efforts fell short, and the woman died at the scene.
 
According to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office, they will release the woman’s name once they notify family members.
 
Authorities learned that the driver involved in the crash left the scene before their arrival.
 
At this time, detectives with the Major Collisions Investigation Unit will take over the case. Those with information on this crash can call the Sacramento Police Department.
