1 Dead in Motorcycle Accident on Highway 165 in Hilmar

 
HILMAR, CA (August 25, 2023) — One person died in a motorcycle crash on Highway 165 near August Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal motorcycle accident happened around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. Under unclear circumstances, a woman in a 2013 Audi SUV tried to pass a big rig hauling a trailer and a pickup truck. As the woman used the opposing lane, she veered into the path of a northbound 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle traveling about 45 to 50 miles per hour.
 
Both drivers saw one another and tried to avoid the looming crash by moving into the shoulder. However, both vehicles collided head-on.
 
The motorcycle rider died in the accident. Meanwhile, a 12-year-old boy and the woman in the Audi reported no injuries.
 
Authorities have much to investigate in this crash. Therefore, if anyone has more information, please call the CHP.
