1 Dies in Fiery Multi-Car Crash on Lerdo Highway in Shafter

 
SHAFTER, CA (August 17, 2023) — One person died in a fiery multi-car accident on Lerdo Highway near Driver Road.
 
According to the Shafter Police Department, the fatal multi-car crash happened around 4:30 p.m. Monday. For unknown reasons, two vehicles collided, causing the vehicles to catch fire.
 
Soon after, Kern County Fire and police officers arrived at the scene. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze to search for anyone trapped inside the vehicle. In their search, they found one deceased person in the driver’s seat of the passenger vehicle.
 
At this time, the Kern County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the victim’s name.
