Fatal Pittsburg Big Rig Accident on Highway 4 near San Marco Boulevard

 
PITTSBURG, CA (September 5, 2023) – A person died in a big rig accident on Highway 4, early Thursday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on August 31, shortly after 4:00 a.m. For reasons still under investigation, a van and a big rig collided in the eastbound lane of Highway 4, just west of San Marco Boulevard.
 
Emergency crews pronounced one person dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
The accident reportedly caused lane closures.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
