1 Killed, 6 Injured in Rollover Accident on 60 Freeway [Boyle Heights, CA]

Fatal Boyle Heights Rollover Car Accident on 60 Freeway near Lorena Street

 
BOYLE HEIGHTS, CA (January 4, 2024) – One person died and six others sustained injuries in a rollover accident on 60 Freeway, early Sunday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on December 31, at about 6:00 a.m. For reasons still under investigation, a white SUV overturned in the eastbound lanes near Lorena Street.
 
As per reports, two people became trapped in the SUV.
 
Emergency crews later pronounced one person dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Meanwhile, six other people sustained injuries and were transported to hospitals. Their conditions were not immediately known.
 
Responders issued a SigAlert, closing no. 3, 4, and 5 lanes of the eastbound freeway. The closures lasted until 11:22 a.m.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
