Chase of Stolen Car on Montague Expressway in San Jose Ends in Fatality

 
SAN JOSE, CA (April 24, 2022) – One person died and four others were injured after a police chase of a stolen vehicle on Montague Expressway in San Jose early Friday morning.
 
The fatal crash happened around 1:19 a.m. on April 22 at the intersection of North First Street. According to the San Jose Police Department, a sheriff’s sergeant had spotted a 2014 Honda CRV which had been stolen in a recent carjacking. The Honda driver did not yield to a patrol vehicle, leading to a pursuit.
 
The Honda carrying four people was heading southbound on North First Street and ran the red light at Montague. It then collided with a 2022 Toyota sedan traveling west on Montague with a green light, police said.
 
Arriving units found the male driver of the Honda suffering from major injuries. They rushed him to a hospital, where the man died.
 
Paramedics also took the three passengers of the Honda, one adult male and two juvenile females, to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
The adult male driver of the Toyota also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
