Fatal Tractor-Trailer Crash on Highway 49 in Auburn

 
AUBURN, CA (December 15, 2023) — One person died in a gravel truck accident on Highway 49 near Old Foresthill Road.
 
According to the Auburn California Highway Patrol station, the fatal truck accident happened around 7:17 a.m. Thursday. For an unknown reason, a driver carrying 2,000 pounds of gravel slammed into the hillside of the highway. Shortly after, paramedics and Highway officials responded to the scene near the Confluence of the American River to find the driver with fatal injuries.
 
Authorities did not release the name of the victim at the time of the report.
