ALTAMONT, CA (October 24, 2023) — One person died in a car crash on the 580 Freeway near Mountain House Parkway on Saturday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly multi-car crash happened around 6:30 a.m. For an unknown reason, a driver heading eastbound rear-ended an SUV, sending that SUV across the center median and broadsiding a westbound car.
 
Shortly after, paramedics reached the scene and took one person to San Joaquin General Hospital in French Camp, where the individual passed away. Officials did not release the victim’s name.
 
In addition, six people suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash.
 
At this time, authorities did not say what led to the accident. However, an investigation into the details should identify the cause.
