1 Killed, 5 Hurt in Head-On Crash on Pioneer Trail in South Lake Tahoe

 
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA (July 7, 2023) — One person died, and five others reported injuries in a head-on accident on Pioneer Trail near Fairmeadow Trail.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal 2-car crash happened around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. For an unknown reason, a driver of a southbound 2018 Tesla Model 3 crashed into a northbound 2013 Subaru Impreza.
 
Paramedics took four passengers in the Tesla to UC Davis Medical Center with moderate to major injuries and the 38-year-old Tesla driver to Barton Memorial Hospital with major injuries. Of the four Tesla passengers, a 6-year-old boy, a 75-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman suffered moderate injuries and a 3-year-old suffered major injuries.
 
The Subaru driver, however, died at Barton Memorial Hospital. Reports did not say the victim’s name.
