1 Killed, 2 Motorcycles Collide on 5 Freeway in San Diego County

 
SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA (October 9, 2023) — One person died after 2 motorcycles crashed on the 5 Freeway near the San Clemente Border Patrol Station.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the double motorcycle accident happened around 9:20 a.m. Sunday. For an unknown reason, a 20-year-old motorcycle rider of a black Yamaha collided with a Honda CBR600 motorcycle in front of it. As a result, the impact sent both riders off their bikes.
 
Soon after, paramedics arrived and found the 20-year-old and the Honda’s 22-year-old rider at the scene. Despite providing life-saving efforts, however, paramedics pronounced the Yamaha motorcyclist deceased. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has yet to release the victim’s name. As for the Honda motorist, paramedics took that individual to a hospital with moderate injuries.
 
At this time, authorities do not have an explanation for the accident. However, they ruled out DUI. If anyone would like to help the CHP with this accident, please call 760-643-3400.
