1 Killed, 1 Hospitalized in Off-Road Vehicle Crash at Dumont Dunes in Barstow

 
BARSTOW, CA (January 6, 2023) — One person died, and another suffered major injuries in an off-road vehicle accident at Dumont Dunes near Highway 127.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal off-highway crash happened around 3:38 p.m. on December 31. Upon responding, CHP officers learned that a 66-year-old man from Anderson operating a 2021 Honda Talon veered down a sandy embankment and rolled over.
 
Soon after, paramedics responded but pronounced a 65-year-old passenger from Hollister on board the vehicle deceased at the scene. As for the driver, medical professionals shuttled the victim to University Medical Center in Las Vegas with major injuries.
 
It’s unclear what led to the accident, but authorities have ruled out drugs and alcohol.
 
The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner’s Division has yet to release the victim’s name. Although, if anyone has more information on this fatal crash, please call the CHP Barstow area office at 760-255-5900.
