Woman Killed in Fiery Head-On Accident on Little Morongo Road in Desert Hot Springs

 
DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA (September 23, 2021) – A 20-year-old Desert Hot Springs woman was killed in a head-on accident on Little Morongo Road, late Tuesday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on September 21 at about 10:51 p.m. A northbound 1999 Lexus GS 300 reportedly entered the southbound lane in an attempt to overtake another vehicle.
 
Then, the Lexus collided head-on with a southbound Toyota Corolla near Dillon Road.
 
The impact of the crash caused both of the vehicles to catch fire.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the driver of the Lexus dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the victim’s name, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Meanwhile, paramedics rushed the driver of the Toyota to a hospital with major injuries.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
