Hit-and-Run Crash Involving Two Vehicles on Borderlands Drive in Rancho Cordova Leaves One Driver Dead

 
RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (November 10, 2024) – One person was killed in a hit-and-run crash involving two vehicles at Borderlands Drive and Douglas Road in Rancho Cordova on Friday evening.
 
The fatal crash happened around 9:15 p.m. on November 8. According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, two vehicles collided at the intersection for unknown reasons.
 
After the crash, one of the drivers fled the scene.
 
Responding firefighters pronounced the driver of the other vehicle dead at the scene.
 
Three other people in that vehicle, two minors and one adult, suffered minor injuries.
 
Authorities later located the hit-and-run driver, identified as 33-year-old Owen Cruz, also known as Ogan Gencer. They arrested him early Saturday morning.
 
It was unknown if drugs or alcohol was a contributing factor. An investigation into this crash is ongoing.
