Community Service Officer Long Pham Struck Dead on Monterey Highway near Palm Avenue
SAN JOSE, CA (August 5, 2024) — Community Service Officer Long Pham died after a motorist struck him on Monterey Highway near Palm Avenue.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office identified the fatal victim as 34-year-old Long Tham Pham. Pham and another San Jose Police Community Service Officer were controlling traffic in South San Jose. Subsequently, a driver who authorities believe might have been impaired struck the officers.
Minutes later, paramedics took one Community Service Officer to a hospital where she is expected to survive. However, Pham passed away shortly after.
After the crash, police arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI. There is no other information about this accident, but the authorities will look into the details.
