Deputy Suffers Injuries after Teens Hits Stolen Vehicle into Patrol Cars on Lone Tree Road in Hollister

 
HOLLISTER, CA (March 24, 2024) – A deputy was injured and two teens were arrested in a stolen vehicle crash on Lone Tree Road in Hollister early Friday morning on March 22.
 
Around 1:48 a.m., officers received a call of two teenagers from Salinas who stole two sports cars, a white Corvette and a white Camaro. A deputy located the stolen cars south on Fairview Road at Santa Ana Road.
 
Police said the Camaro drove erratically, intentionally preventing the deputy from getting closer to the Corvette.
 
Both cars then took off at a high rate of speed in an attempt to evade law enforcement. Pursuing officers lost track of the Corvette after it turned onto Lone Tree Road.
 
Officers continued following the Camaro to the end of Lone Tree Road. At the summit, the Camaro driver turned around and intentionally rammed two sheriff’s vehicles.

A deputy at the scene tossed his K9 partner out of the way of the Camaro. The Camaro then hit the deputy.

At some point, the 17-year-old male driver of the Camaro picked up the 18-year-old female driver of the Corvette. He eventually lost control of the car and crashed into a utility pole on Highway 156 at Monterey Street.

As a result of the crash, the female passenger suffered moderate injuries. The driver was unharmed.

Police later arrested both suspects. They booked the male suspect at San Benito County Youth Services.

Meanwhile, paramedics took the deputy to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

An investigation is ongoing. The Hollister Police Department asked anyone with information to call them at 831-636-4331.
