Pedestrian Dies after Struck by At Least Two Vehicles on 5 Freeway in Chula Vista

 
CHULA VISTA, CA (March 25, 2023) – One person was killed in a pedestrian accident on 5 Freeway in Chula Vista early Thursday morning.
 
The fatal accident happened around 3:00 a.m. on March 23, just north of Main Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, a man driving his vehicle along the northbound freeway struck the pedestrian who was walking in lanes of traffic.
 
After the crash, the driver pulled over onto the right shoulder and waited for first responders to arrive.
 
Moments later, the pedestrian was struck by an additional unknown number of vehicles.
 
The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
 
Drugs or alcohol were not considered as factors in the crash. Futher investigation is underway.
