Car Crashes into Tree in San Juan Capistrano Killing 2 People and Leaving 1 in Critical Condition

 
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA (January 31, 2023) – Riley Hans Sullivan and Rex Aziz Devenny died in a car accident in San Juan Capistrano late Sunday evening on January 29.
 
The fatal accident happened shortly after 10:00 p.m. in the area of Rancho Viejo Road and Malaspina Road, just east of the 5 Freeway. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, a sedan had crashed into a tree in unclear circumstances.
 
Sullivan, a 21-year-old Creston resident, died at the scene. He was the driver of the car. Devenny, a 19-year-old from Capistrano, was his front seat passenger and was also killed in the crash.
 
A third man, who was in the back seat, was in critical condition at Mission Hospital.
 
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. It is unknown if speed, distracted driving, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
