Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Two Vehicles on 280 Freeway in San Jose

 
SAN JOSE, CA (October 11, 2022) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on 280 Freeway in East San Jose early Saturday morning, October 8.
 
The accident happened around 1:00 p.m. near the southbound 680 Freeway and Highway 101. According to the California Highway Patrol, the adult male pedestrian had run onto the ramp when a Toyota Tacoma struck him.
 
The impact sent him flying into another lane, where he was hit by a Honda Accord.
 
The driver of the Accord had swerved in an attempt to avoid the man and lost control of the vehicle, spinning out into some shrubs on the highway shoulder. The car was damaged after the crash.
 
The pedestrian died at the scene. Authorities withheld his identity pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
 
CHP officials did not suspect alcohol or drugs to be factors in the crash. An investigation is underway.
