Man Killed in Fresno Pedestrian Accident at Maroa Avenue and Shaw Avenue

 
FRESNO, CA (September 12, 2022) — A man died in a pedestrian accident at Shaw Avenue and Maroa Avenue on Saturday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal pedestrian accident happened around 1:15 a.m. For unknown reasons, a 30-year-old man wandered into the path of an oncoming eastbound Hyundai Sonata.
 
It appears the woman operating the Hyundai was in the No. 1 lane approaching the pedestrian crosswalk at the intersection and struck the man who had drifted into her trajectory.
 
Soon after, paramedics responded and rushed the victim to Community Regional Medical Center in downtown Fresno where he died shortly after. Authorities have not released his name.
 
Following the crash, the woman involved in the accident stayed and cooperated with the investigation. At this time, officers plan to look into whether drugs or alcohol were in the man’s system at the time of the accident. If anyone has information on this crash, please contact the CHP.
