Maria Aguilera Dies, Elvira Lopez Hurt in Bakersfield Rollover Crash

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (September 13, 2022) — Maria Aguilera died in a rollover accident with a semi-truck on Copus Road near the 5 Freeway.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly rollover crash happened around 6:48 a.m. on Wednesday. As 55-year-old Elvira Lopez tried to overtake a 2014 Peterbilt on Copus Road, she reportedly struck the big rig while trying to re-enter the westbound lane. Subsequently, the 55-year-old lost control of the 2000 Ford, which overturned on the side of the road.
 
Due to the nature of the crash, the Ford’s 53-year-old passenger from Lamont — Maria Guadalupe Escobedo Aguilera — suffered fatal injuries.
 
Upon arriving, paramedics brought Lopez, of Lamont, to Kern Medical for treatment of moderate injuries.
