Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Sedan on Union Avenue in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 22, 2022) – A woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Union Avenue in Bakersfield on Saturday, August 20.
 
The fatal crash happened just after 9:45 p.m. near East 5th Street. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the female pedestrian was walking outside of a crosswalk when a dark sedan struck her.
 
After striking the victim, the driver fled the scene without rendering aid.
 
First responders found the woman in the road suffering from major injuries. They tried saving her, but she died at the scene.
 
The Kern County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity once family members are properly notified.
