Woman Dies in National City Pedestrian Crash on Highland Avenue near 16th Street

 
NATIONAL CITY, CA (August 11, 2022) — A woman walking a bike died in a pedestrian accident on Highland Avenue near 16th Street on Wednesday morning.
 
According to National City police officers, the fatal pedestrian accident happened around 6:15 a.m. For unknown reasons, a woman walking her bike reportedly jaywalked into oncoming traffic and was hit by a driver.
 
Subsequently, the driver stopped and pulled over and authorities responded soon after.
 
Despite performing life-saving efforts, paramedics could not resuscitate the victim and pronounced her dead at the scene.
 
As for the unidentified driver of the red Honda, a 22-year-old female, she reportedly told officers she was moving at 30 to 35 mph when the accident happened.
 
At this time, officers do not suspect DUI to have played a part in the crash. Although, an investigation into the case should confirm more details.
